My garage door would not work, and we found out that what was needed was a new torsion spring. I called Precision Door Services, on Friday, and they told me their next availability was the next day Saturday. I informed the representatives, before I take the appointment, I need to know the cost of replacing a torsion spring. He did not seem to want to tell me the cost and said we will let you know when we get there. So I insisted that I know what needs to be done, and need to know the cost before I schedule the appointment, because I am also looking at another vendor and need to know the cost. He then told me you are looking at between $150 to $350 depending on if it is one or two springs that need to be replaced.
So, imagine my confidence, knowing that I only need one replacement and it probably not going to cost me no more than $200.00 and therefore I agreed and scheduled the appointment.
The technician came and saw the garage, long story short, he saw that there were two cars stuck in the garage, and it was Saturday 2pm, and we have been waiting for over a day for the service, and figured out he can take advantage of us, and gave us three different quotes that were all beyond what I was quoted. They quotes were BEST = $1,317, BETTER $ $1,105 and GOOD - $515. I informed him I did not need the top two options, because they have ridiculous and unnecessary things that any right mind person struggling in this economy should not be spending on a garage but will go with the lowest option and the price I was quoted for on the phone. He insisted this is all we can do. So, I was forced to go with the $515 option, because we needed to get the cars out of the garage. Had it been like other days, where we usually park one car outside, and it was also not a weekend and we had options, I would not have used their service. So, in short, unless it is the end of the world, and you cannot find anyone else to fix your garage problems, do not go with this company’s service, because it is morally wrong to take advantage of people that you see in circumstances that they don’t have many options for. And of course, after wards I learned how easy to is to replace a torsion spring found in Home Depot 1 $80 and two for $170 pay labor to someone from Angie’s or any other provider that is eager to earn money the right way.

Still did not get your estimate.
- Robert Urdal
After two attempts to fic opener and failing, they wanted to charge again. Moved on to a different service
Repair man who came out was nice but the pricing is very, very expensive. I am going to look elsewhere.
- Evan Susskind
Pushy sales tactics - wouldn’t leave until I agreed to something. Tried to upsell services I didn’t ask for. Tried to get me to call my husband to agree to work. All I wanted was a quote so I could compare with other companies. They were able to come quickly and did do the work but he had to take a picture of my card and I have no assurance the info was deleted. I had to order a new card. My husband is disappointed with the work done - they installed the opener not level. We won’t be back for the rest of the servicing needed.
- Mary Neubauer
I will never use your company again. The service technician had no clue what he was doing. Instead of trying to fix the issue, he tried to sell me a $1000 garage door motor. The part to fix it cost $100.
- Wayne Pelkey
Services was great but the price for replacing bolts, pulleys, springs (mechanical moving parts) cost $1K. I really could not fathom the supply chain issue in this. Sometimes there is no choice in the matter but call another major dealer and be charged for another house call. I gave it a 1 star due to overpricing .
- Darlene Wilkins
I had no items replaced because your guy could not figure out how to install the key pad correctly so he put the old one back and kept having to get pamphlets to read. Remote just needed a battery and had 2 bulbs replaced. He had to program it again when he couldn’t get the new one to work because he couldn’t figure out the wires. I was charged $280 for 2 programming fees???? Disappointed and I went by the reviews and never got a 25 point inspection and will never use again. Overcharged and he needs retraining and he tried to first sale a 1000-1200 system and told me the system I had would be fine. His errors in programming cost me 2 fees?? I should of been charged only one fee for a service call and this was his ideal of saving me money???? Go with another company I wish I had.
- Barbara Foxwell
Very disappointed. Following what I thought was great service on September 30, we reached out for an appointment today noticing that something didn't seem to be operating correctly and learned that we need to spend an additional $800 on top of what we spent in September. Had we been given complete information at that time, we might have made a different decision.
- Lisa Farmer
The technician was very nice. The estimate on the phone to replace my opener was $399. I checked with other companies and this wasn't the best price but I was willing to pay it to get the job done today. The technician told me that the prices have been updated and that I had 3 choices the lowest at $700 the highest at $985. It was the old bait and switch technique. I would not recommend this company.
- Craig Berger
After spending $1,800 on new garage door apparatus, I can't sync the door opener to the buttons in my cars, even after hours of trying. I contacted the company immediately after the technician left, but never heard back. Just called to speak to owner or anyone else in charge, but was placed on hold for a long time. I'm thinking it was a mistake to deal with this company that doesn't seem to care about customer service.
- Richard Simon
I’m very annoyed that I had to pay 60 dollars for nothing being done. NO SERVICE was done. I received estimates and that was it. Im requesting you give me a refund. The guy made me feel trapped and pressured to get the new door and I wasn’t about to just say yes to spending 2500 without checking other places. Oh and he made it clear that was the best price and I won’t find anything better. Also I asked if he would at least help with me getting my car out of garage and he said no. I said I paid you 60 dollars he said well if u get
the garage door it will come off that price. I don’t appreciate feeling pressured and I know because I’m a single mom he thought he could. You guys left a bad taste in my mouth.
- Kristie Edwards
To expensive for service for 65 dollars worth of parts maybe I should do what you do and not be a teacher.
- David Moon
David, please give us a call at your convenience to discuss. The problem with a hung door is much more complex than meets the eye. I'd be more than willing to discuss this with you sir.
I've used a few contractors for different services being a homeowner. I also don't normally leave reviews, but I have to say my experience with precision doors was absolutely terrible.
I had some work done to my garage door last year that included the cables, springs, and other parts. I used the garage door regularly everyday and initially was satisfied with the work. Last month, the cable snapped when I pulled into the garage. Luckily, the cable was under warranty since it was done by precision doors.
The tech (Jake) came out and replaced the door under warranty. Here is wear that terrible customer service starts...the tech gets ready to leave with my garage door not closing. The tech has the nerve to say that the garage door never worked (even though I literally got his advice on how to manually open the garage door to get my car out).
To further insult my intelligence, the tech states the work was shoddy and precision would never do it, insinuating that I got someone else to replace the garage door parts.
It was the dumbest thing I heard, why would I pay 600+ dollars to replace parts that are already under warranty? It would be like me buying a new Toyota and having Jiffy Lube replace my engine and pay more out of pocket.
To top things off, I want to get a tech to make sure my garage door is functioning properly since it's now making a loud noise. I was promised a senior tech, instead they wanted to again send Jake out.
I would not recommend precision doors, I still was not able to get my issue resolved.
- Jason Dickens
Jason, after our conversation this morning (7-8-2020) and the resolution we have in place we hope this is a pleasing plan we have worked out. We truly appreciate your candid review and more importantly your business and hope to continue providing you with the exceptional customer service you've come to enjoy with Precision Door Service.
This has been the worst service and customer service experience that Ive ever had. My door is still not complete on 7/25/19 for a simple new garage door install. My first appointment was on 6/5/19. I have been getting the run around on completion of the door. They installed the door and there were gaps around it, i had to call them to check on the filling the gaps. They came out at least 5 times total to finally add paneling around the door but there is still a gap to this day. Last time a guy came he said the door was the wrong size, now they are telling me that they cant put a door the right size and they just need to add more wood to seal it up. I have never experience so much confusion on what needs to be done for something that should be simple. The door is custom made apparently so i don't know if they don't want to spend them money to make a new because they made the wrong size or what. This is horrible and my door is still not complete.
- Troy Green
The company just came over to replace a broken Spring. They advised me to upgrate to a two small springs. It took them only 20 minutes which was great. However I over paid. They changed me $670.
Ater doing some research i found out that other companies only charge between $300 $400. This is kind sad. They seems to be a good company with a good customer service but the price is a big NO NO.
Because of the urgency of having a working harage door some company will take advantage of the situation.
- Bruno Tarquinii
Do your homework. Their estimate shows $260 per spring. $520 just for springs. Without labor or anything else. The best top quality set of TWO springs on Amazon is $60. You guys are a total rip off to people who don’t do some research. And the work isn’t even difficult or technical.
- Marco Devries
No one will communicate with you about any problems after their service call is finished. They installed 10-4” sealed nylon rollers that retail for around $11-$15 for 10. I found this out later but on my bill they changed $19.99 each for a total of $199.99. I thought the technician made an error so I contacted them on two occasions and they promised a call back with a resolution. They still haven’t called and the work was done on 1/28/19.
- Bill Fitzpatrick
A TOTAL SCAM! They sent a technician out to quote me a price and after a brief review quoted us a price of over $800 to replace two springs. We immediately called another local company and repaired our garage door and replaced the springs for under $300. I would never use or recommend Precision to any of my family or friends! #Beware
- David & Sylvia Wimbley
Technician called ahead to advise arrival time-was courteous and knowledgeable. Repair was done in a timely manner. Thought labor was a bit high.
- Liz Kreutzberg
Garage door was working prior to repair. Door need a broken spring replaced which they replaced but the opener stopped functioning after the repair. Was told the capictor was bad and then told have to replace complete garage opener. Totally dissatified and wpuld not use this service again. The chains were left hanging in garage.
- Abu Hatim
We are continuing to try to resolve this issue with you. Thank you for your comments.
I am totally dissatisfied with the service of your company and would not recommend your company to any family members, colleagues, associates or friends.
- Lewin Williams
We hope we were able to discuss your concerns and rectify the situation.
This used to be the only garage door business I would deal with, so I have no idea what has happened. I have paid for two visits, the first (April 25th) I was told all I needed was lube (he didn't even do that) The second (May 16th), the technician made up three reasons for my issue... 1) a "jerker", 2) breaking in (over 5 years old), and 3) "sleep mode" (a total lie). I have now been charged for TWO visits, and my garage door STILL isn't repaired! Service performed: 1st time, absolutely NOTHING. Second time, 1 spring (of two) turned 1/2 turn.
- Dewey Watkins
Thank you for allowing us to correct this situation. In the future, please call and ask for the manager, if you are not completely satisfied. We will make it right.
I will never use this company again: Yesterday 9 March 2015 I had a service call for a garage door and opener that had been installed by Precision in April 2014. Originally they did a great job on the install so I felt good about calling them for the repair.
I had to pay a service charge of $50 just for a technician to show up. He found that the idler pulley for my garage door opener was broken. Then he told me he "didn't have one on the truck". Really? A garage door company doesn't have a pulley?. However, he would replace my entire mount and pulley for an additional $75. I sensed a scam, so I said No and sent him packing.
It turns out you can buy this pulley on-line for under $10, and my regular handyman swapped it in for me, and the door works again.
Here's an alternate scenario: If Precision had charged $50 to cover the trip and the first half hour labor, and $20 for the pulley, I would have paid without complaining. It was the attempt to con me into paying for a bigger job that pissed me off. Enjoy that $50, because it is the last money you are getting from me, on any of my 4 garages.
- F. Verter
Our manager tried to talk with you about this, but was not able to help you to understand. The "fix" that you wanted will hurt the integrity of the door. We are glad that you got the door working, but do hope you do not have further problems.
I was charged $215 to re-hang my motor and make some adjustments. How do you justify that cost? I feel like I got duped.
- Chalanya Pelham
We will try to contact you to explain the costs and the justification for the pricing. We strive to have happy customers. Thank you for your business.
Although the service was good it was VERY expensive, Over $500 for 2 new springs, rollers and cable on one door.... the parts cost about $150 max, the serviceman was only at my home one hour. I couldn't even get the $50 service charge credited. Merry Christmas
- Linda Goodman
Thank you for allowing us to explain the costs to you, along with the work that was done. We will do a better job of explaining that at the time of service.
I scheduled an appointment and they came when they wanted and I wasn't there. Precision needs to work on there Communication skills. I spoke with the owner and he also stated that he would give me a call back and he never did....Unfortunately, I will not be using them again.
- Kimberly Shuler
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to talk with you. Our technician called on the way, but your voicemail was full. He also came by your house when our manager called you to be told you wanted to be called at the other number. Our technician made two trips to your home. You will need to reschedule for a time you can be home. Thank you.
Alan showed up 2 hours late. I contacted the main office 30 minutes after their scheduled window, she said he had a flat and would be there in an hour. 30 minutes later, Alan called and said he'd be there in an hour.
Alan got out of his van and was on my property for less than a minute and said that the springs and entire system as well as door were shot and it would be cheaper for me to replace everything ($800 per door). I told him I wasn't in the position to buy 2 new garage doors and needed to do the minimum to get me through a few months and set aside money for replacements. He said $500-$600 and walked towards his van. He also said he wasn't going to charge me the "service fee." He would do me a favor and call it in as a sales call.
Alan never removed a tool from his truck and was clearly uninterested in doing work on a Friday afternoon.
I had an alternate, local contractor complete the repairs today. $65 cable and $65 trip charge, spring was still in good shape. Contractor said the door was at the end of its life, but should last about a year. I will be using them for the replacement, not Precision. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. It was a complete waste of a 1/2 day off work to wait for these jokers.
- Justin mackovyak
We apologize for the technician being so late. As you can imagine, we cannot anticipate difficulties that arise. Unfortunately, the doors were in need of replacement. Repairing them would not have been the best option at this time. Thank you for understanding.
