Technician did a great repair but $822 seemed very exorbitant.
- Richard Lees
I have a seven year old garage door installation which creaked and groaned when traversing up and down. I scheduled a service appointment via telephone with the office and the technician came out on the day and time scheduled. Both interactions were professional. The rub is that the technician proposed two repair options at $2K+ and $1.7K+ essentially replacing all components except the actual door and opener (I paid $3K for the door and opener with installation). We declined these options and were offered a $250 "lube job" that would be considered a temporary Band-Aid. When that was declined we were advised that there would be a $60 service call fee. No one advised us that there would be a fee just to look at the door and, when asked, the technician pulled up the showed where the website states "free service call with repair" but was unable to show where a fee was clearly stated. We subsequently had another company come out who indicated that there was nothing that required replacement. He did lubed the door and made some adjustments which fixed the problem and charged us $150. Even when the $60 service call fee from Precision is added, we still made out $40 better and were not upsold an unnecessary $1.7K to $2K+ repair.

Very high will not use again and will not refer family and friends

Our service tech as polite and prompt. Unfortunately, even though I had discussed the make/model/age (23 years) of our garage door opener to ensure that the Precision Tech would have any necessary parts on his truck, when he arrived...he did not have any parts. He proceeded to say that the best thing is just to replace the entire unit. This was a disappointment, as I had already discussed the desire to repair with their scheduler and the truck arrived with no parts. Cost for 2 replacement units were quoted at $953 (better) and $1165 (best). I cannot rate their install work as we elected to research the proposed models before investing.

The work performed on my garage door included re-programming four remotes, installing two new extension springs, repairing a faulty sensor, and lubricating the chasis. The technician, Keith, was fantastic! He was prompt, personable, professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. I couldn't have asked for a better representative of a company! However, since my initial appointment was for the sole purpose of re-programming the remotes, I wasn't aware that I had been entitled to a 5% Senior or AAA Discount on the new extension springs until immediately after Keith left and I received a thank-you email from the company's owner containing a link to their website. This definitely wasn't Keith's fault -- he was great. I immediately telephoned Precision and left a message for the owner or a manager to inform them. It's now been over a week and I've never received a return call. There's absolutely no excuse for this occurring. I'm now concerned that this forbodes future problems with any guarantees made by Precision on their products. What a shame, especially since Keith did such a fine job.

Called Precision as it was recommended through Angie's List. Unfortunately I was out of town and my wife was home to meet the technician. My service call note was that I believed it was a fuse or the circuit board as we had a power outage and the motor worked fine. There was no smell or anything from a burnt out motor and even the lights did not come on for the reset. I was astounded when my wife told me that it was $600 and the motor was replaced. If I was told the motor needed to replace I would have purchased the motor for $200 at Ace Hardware and replace it myself. Felt like my wife was taken advantage of. The new garage door opener is excellent quality, installed well and works perfectly and the only reason for 2 stars. I felt like the technician upsold my wife and did not check the fuse or board (4 bolts). Not what I asked.

Thanks for choosing Precision Door Service and inviting us to your home to do work on your garage door. Thank you as well for taking a few moments to speak with me by phone this morning to discuss the products and pricing we offer to our customers. I'm glad to have resolved this issue and clarified the pricing issue.
Today we had our second service call on our new garage door. It opened as normal but we could not get it to return to the closed position, It would go down for about two feet and then reverse to the fully open position. We had an appointment and arrived back home just as the service man arrived. The door is not centered in the space between the two tracks. The service man adjusted the setting on the detector but did not center the door between the two tracks. I feel that we will continue to have problems.
- Christian Poindexter
We're hoping that with the 2nd appointment and discussion with you via telephone we were able to put your mind at ease. We sincerely appreciate your patience while we made a few minor adjustments to your door for optimal operation. Please feel free to contact us again with any questions or concerns regarding this or any other garage door issues.
The tech was very professional and polite however was unable to program my door opener which could have been the opener problem! He was fine!!! My primary problem was to have my Auto Homelink car remote in my cars programed which was done fine, I wanted to have 2 extra remotes in reserve so I thought it would be convenient to purchase from the company because they were there now! Dumb decision. I was charged $118.00 for 2 remotes which I could purchase on line for $25.00 for a 2 pk. I expected 20-30% ($35-$40) more and maybe another $30.00 to program them for a total of $60-$70 but $118.00 was a total rip off when my service was a labor intensive task which I was paying for! To charge 400% more a an item that can be bought anywhere for less was definitely inappropriate! I'll think twice before I use them again.

Tom, We trust we have reached a positive solution after our phone call. We appreciate the candid review and allowing us the opportunity to correct the issue.
Jake was very courteous and knowledgeable, he represents your company well. When I arranged this visit I did a Google search for average cost of garage door spring replacements when you replace 2 springs. With the information I found the average price is between $200 and $300 dollars. Your company more than doubles that cost!!! I was charged $606 dollars and for that price I would not recommend you to anyone I know. When someone asks me I will tell them go anywhere but Precision Door Service! If I would have known you charge twice the average I would have called someone else and next time I will.
- Robert Harting
Mr. Harting – Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review of our recent repair in your garage. We aim to have fully satisfied customers and regret if the cost of our repair may have exceeded your anticipated budget. We appreciate our continued dialogue and trust the resolution provided has been to your satisfaction. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you again in the future if needed.
Purchased two new garage doors and motors 2 months ago. When the home inspector came, he pointed out a safety feature had not been setup. I called Precision to remedy this. The person that came out charged me $195 for the callout. Unacceptable after sales service!

The technician Alan was friendly and very professional.

We appreciate your business and your comments about Alan!
I originally called Precision garage door repair because my door would not open. I was added to the schedule with a window from 8:00-12:00. I asked if the tech would call me before they arrived. I was told he would, however he didn't. He arrived around 11:15 and completed the job around 11:45. He mentioned that the garage door opener was installed poorly by Home Depot. He explained the problem was broken springs and some wire ...and quoted $565. It ended up being $585. I am confident everything was marked up,however I needed my garage door fixed because I had an appointment scheduled so I paid it. Alan doesn't seem to be a people person. He seemed irritated when I asked him several questions. Clearly when I am paying almost $600 I am going to ask questions. He gave my husband the same negative attitude when he spoke with him on the phone. He would probably be more successful not working with people if he is not a people person. In addition, if someone is not familiar with the parts of the garage door vs. garage door opener that was installed over 10 yrs. ago by the builder....it would be helpful for the tech to be patient and respond accordingly. While that is his area of expertise,he would feel the same way if he was dealing with something that he was not familiar with. Overall, I would not use their service again because of the unprofessional demeanor of the technician. It may have been a bad day...he may have just been grumpy and needed a hug ....I'm not sure but when you are in a service oriented business...the customer is the person you are serving and how you handle them can make or break your reputation. Finally , he used a square type of device to charge my account. He wasn't sure if it went through and I did not have time to check my account before he left because of several layers of security through the system. He wrote down my account number. I checked my account immediately after he left and I had been charged. I called the main office to inform them. Minutes later someone called back and said the tech just called and that he had charged my card again. He said he would refund it and send me a receipt which I thought was very professional. I will wait to see if my account is credited the duplicate charge.
- Debra Plater
Thank you for allowing me to discuss this problem with you. I have discussed this with my employee, and will use your comments in our training. Your card was refunded for the duplicate amount. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, as we strive for excellent customer satisfaction.
this is the second time I have used your company. Both times I was not present when the repair person came, but my wife was each time. The first time was a broken chain I think (2/11). The repair person sold a new motor. This time was a broken spring. In each case the cost was around $500. My preception is that I am being overcharged. I questioned both service calls and the repair stated that he made both repairs. At this point I will not used Precision again. I feel as if I have been overcharged. I think the reapirs would have been less expensive, but the sales were more profitable for the company.
- Anthony Gaston
We appreciate your business. Our prices are a little higher than others because we use only high quality materials and parts. We are also licensed and insured, with highly trained technicians. There are cheaper companies that can do similar work, but not with the level of service or quality of parts.
I received good service from the customer service personnel and the technician was prompt and friendly and assessed the problem. However, he did not have the equipment needed to make the repair so he has to come back tomorrow -- and I had to pay the $50 fee for the service call.
- Kim Frazier
You will not be charged again for the service call. Thank you for choosing Precision.
So much unexpected costs with my garage door broken spring repair. The technician  is quite a saleman; from the beginning of the estimate of the job, additional cost after another, it was one spring that broke but ended up with two sping replacements done, then I needed a new motor trolley replacement as well, the total job cost me over$550. My garage door was repaired but I belive it's sure over priced:(
- Mary Sokhor
We appreciate your comments, and allowing us to speak with you to explain the reasoning behind needing the second spring.
Led to believe the service would be 50 bucks. Obviously, I knew if parts were involved it would be more but 87 more bucks just to adjust the sensors is crazy.
- Mark Henderson
Thank you for your comments and allowing us to talk with you. We appreciate your u der standing about the charge for adjusting photo eyes. A check for a service charge refund is on the way.
Percision was refered to me by Home Advisors, and on a scale of 1-5 stars I give you guys a (2). Your service tech Alan was VERY rude and came in with an attitude. He said that he had a lot of calls to get too and did not have time to explain things over and over to me. I told him that I would pay for this service call, and let him get going to his next service call.
- Wayne Shadow
We appreciate your comments and will use them in our training updates.
I thought I was calling Clinton Garage Doors because they had repaired my springs at my previous home. At first, my scheduled time was for the date I called (1-2-13) between 1-3 pm, I thought, "Wow good service!" I received a call @ 12:20 stating that the repairman would be there the next day between 7-9am. I called my job and told my supervisor that I will be in around 10 or so. The repairman did not arrive until 9:45am only after I called your company to say that I did not receive a call from the repairman and asked if he was still coming. He then quoted me a price that I thought was too high (over $600)probably because I was already upset because of the tardiness. He told me that I had to get both springs even though only one was broken. He explained why both had to be replaced which made sense to me (at my other home, the repairperson only had to do one for around $100). I only went with Precision Doors because I was in a hurry to just get it fixed. I did apologized to the repairman for my attitude. My total experience was a 2 star. The work I give 4 star.
- Lazaro Gonzalez
Thank you for your comments. We appreciate your rating on the work that was done. We do apologize for the delays. We try hard to keep on our schedule, but sometimes the customers before you need a bit more of our attention and time.
