The positive: This was Barry's third time at my home to repair a broken garage door spring. He is a very nice, polite, well-mannered man and always performs a thorough professional service. The negative: Your garage door springs seem to have an average life span of about 3 years. It would seem to me that they should be more durable and last longer. I can't imagine my next garage door spring repair bill since my warranty will expire in 2013. When they eventually break, I may forced to shop elsewhere for service because I suspect the rates for new springs with labor and service call will become unaffordable.

Thank you for your comments and allowing us to make things right by talking to us. We do use high quality springs, which last 30000 cycles. It appears there may have been a batch that was not quite right, and we are looking into this. We are glad you were able to bring this to light, so it can be corrected.

Torsion Spring broke. Called precision from google. Setting up appointment was easy and same day. Dispatcher gave a 2 hour window (12-2) for arrival, called at 11:45 to advise it would be closer to back end of window and called again at 12:45 to say they would be here in 20 minutes, which they were. Technician, Barry, was professional and knowledgeable. Explained what he would do and what it would cost. Pricing seemed high at $220 for new spring + $45 for new center bearing + $49.95 for service call charge, but what do I know about gargae door repairs. Total repair job took 2 guys 1 hour. $335 including tax. Checked on manufacturers pricing after the fact and torsion spring is $40 item. My fault for not checking earlier. Looks like they did a good job, but you might want to check pricing at other providers.

We strive to make sure customers are aware of scheduling delays as well as what repairs are needed. Our costs may appear higher than what you will find on the web, but there are factors that play into that: the price of steel has gone up 12 times recently. We use only high quality high cycle springs, unlike what you will find on the Internet. Our technicians are highly trained and certified, our trucks are fully stocked. You will certainly find cheaper prices, but you will be buying cheaper parts, that will ,most likely need to be replaced soon. When researching, please check the number of cycles. We have the highest cycle life. Thank you for your business.

Precision put in our garage door 11 years ago. They have been out 3 times since to do minor adjustments/repairs. They always come as soon as they can and are polite and efficient. Precision never tries to sell us a part or service we don't need. The technicians explain the problem, explain the options and then leave the plan up to the customer.

I called Precision Doors yesterday to replace a broken torsion spring. I was told by Harry that it would cost between $169 to $179 per spring, plus a $30 service charge. A technician arrived on the same day and performed a quick and proffesional replacement of both springs, however I was charged for this job $525 rather than max of $388 as I was quoted on the phone. I had not much choice because my wife's car was trapped inside the garage, and had to agree. The technician (Barry) told me that the phone quotes are low to get the work and he has to explain later to customers why the actual cost is much higher... I do not find this practice acceptable. Be careful when dealing with this company!

Our prices are set by me, and the technicians have the freedom to discuss with me if they need to be adjusted. This did not happen in your case, and a partial refund was mailed. This is a great company. I needed to get a frozen garage door fixed to sell a house. It had not been opened in over twenty years and I could not budge it. I also wanted to check into getting automatic door openers installed on both doors. I called on a Wednesday and on Thursday morning Barry showed up from Precision Door, looked at the job and gave me a firm estimate on the spot. One hour later he had the door fixed and repaired issues on the other door. Both worked like a charm. I asked about the estimate for automatic door openers. He gave me a very good price which I said I wanted it. I figured it would be few days before he could install them. He said no he could do it that same day. Amazing turnaround. Highly recommend this firm. A rare exceptional experience from a great local firm.

Looked up on Angies list. Liked the write up & credentials + proximity to where we lived. Door had a safety hazard due to failing components so we elected to have overhaul kit instlled.
